It’s summer. What does that mean? According to Mountain Equipment Co-Op “in summer, we swim”. That’s why Canada’s famed outdoor equipment co-op has teamed up with Waterkeepers Canada to keep our waters swimmable this summer. MEC will be talking about the importance of clean water and our love of outdoor recreation all summer long.
“This is really about getting engaged with your water,” says Andrew Stegemann, Mountain Equipment Co-op’s Community Program Manager and fresh water conservationist. According to Andrew, “water advocacy really needs to happen at a local level. There’s a national message and myth that all our water is clean. That’s not necessarily true.”
