It’s official. Swim Guide is now available on the Baja Peninsula, Mexico!

This is the first expansion of the Swim Guide outside of Canada and the USA. It is a result of the hard work of our friends from Waterkeepers Baja Californias.

A regional collaborative of non‐profit Waterkeeper programs throughout the Baja Peninsula, Waterkeepers Baja Californias members and partner organizations conduct their own water quality monitoring at 54 beaches throughout the communities of Tijuana, Loreto, Bahía Magdalena, La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, Cabo Pulmo, and La Ribera.

Theirs is the only citizen‐based monitoring program of its kind in the region. Each Waterkeeper and participating partner organization:

  • tests their beaches at least once a month to ensure they are safe for recreation,
  • uses its own in-house laboratory for analysis,
  • follows a standard protocol, which is based on the Mexican government’s regulations for recreational beaches, and is located for download here:‐hacemos/), and
  • shares its results at
Welcome to the Waterkeepers Baja Californias and to the people who love the Baja beaches!
