Well, Kiwis, Pulse Energy NZ has a very thoughtful gift for you this year!

As part of Pulse Energy’s contribution to the environment and local communities, the independent electricity and gas retailer is bringing Swim Guide to New Zealand.

Pulse Energy has been working hard to get the beaches, rivers, lakes, and swimming holes from all 16 of New Zealand’s councils ready on Swim Guide. The most current recreational water quality information for over 600 New Zealand swimming spots is now accessible from the Swim Guide smartphone app or website.

Pulse Energy is committed to looking after New Zealand families. Making the most up-to-the minute water quality information easy to access and to understand will help you avoid sickness from swimming in contaminated water.

For a country of water lovers, what could be better?

Pulse Energy will be managing the daily status updates for Swim Guide New Zealand beaches, based on current water quality information from monitoring programs run by each of the 16 councils.

New Zealand has robust recreational water quality standards which weigh weekly monitoring results as well as a Suitability for Recreation Grade (SFRG) determined by a sanitary inspection of the catchment and concentrations of bacteria measured over five summers.

Freshwater sites are sampled for Escherichia coli and and coastal sites are sampled for enterococci.
