Swim Guide is the most popular beach information service in the world. It’s also free, because we believe people should always be able to answer the question, “Can I swim here?”.
We need your help to keep Swim Guide running. Nearly 1 million people rely on Swim Guide to find great swim spots and to protect themselves and their loved ones from getting sick from contaminated waters. By supporting Swim Guide, together, we can help keep hundreds of thousands of people informed about and engaged in their waters.
Your contribution goes directly to cover our operating costs so that we can keep Swim Guide going. With your support we can keep answering the questions close to 1 million people have about the waters where they swim. Swim Guide was programmed and designed in-house at Lake Ontario Waterkeeper, a small non-profit in Toronto, Canada. The annual operating costs for Swim Guide total $100,000 CND, an amount that covers programming, personnel, and consulting. All of the current water quality data in Swim Guide is updated manually, on a daily basis. The Swim Guide team also supports the +70 spectacular Swim Guide affiliates (individuals, non-profit organizations, citizen groups, schools, government organizations, and businesses) who have partnered with us in order to share critical water quality information about their beloved homewaters with the people in their communities.
Your generosity allows people all over the world access to Swim Guide, which means access to water quality test results, access to a platform with a wide audience where the issues affecting waterways can be shared, access to new swim spots, and to old favourites. The impact of your donation goes to a massive, and growing, community of people who care about the water where they swim.

Since the launch of the third version of the Swim Guide’s website in June, 2016, the number of people using Swim Guide has increased by 78.96%. Last August at this time we announced that Swim Guide had 500,000 users. As the summer of 2016 draws to close Swim Guide we have doubled in usership. Your donation to Swim Guide ensures the website and app can continue to be updated with the most current water quality information available for over 7,000 beaches and counting.
Swim Guide shares the best information we have at the moment you ask for it. Always obey signs at the beach or advisories from official government agencies. Stay alert and check for other swimming hazards such as dangerous currents and tides. Please report your pollution concerns so Affiliates can help keep other beach-goers safe.
