Swim Drink Fish Canada is looking for someone to help compile a report on recreational and beach water quality databases. The contractor will prepare a report that answers the following questions:

  • Where are recreational water quality monitoring bodies and beach managers in Canada and the USA currently storing recreational water quality data?
  • Are those databases required to meet regulatory standards? If so, which standards? (e.g., privacy, data integrity, reporting, etc.)
  • What are their data management costs?
  • You are our ideal person for this contract if:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree with two or more years of research experience
  • Previous experience reading, referencing, and explaining results
  • Previous experience with data cleaning and analysis
  • You are committed to accurate, accountable, and thorough data collection;
  • You are very comfortable with computers, databases, and/or information management;
  • You have a keen attention to detail;
  • You take initiative;
  • You speak and write English fluently
  • The project is expected to take 160 hours (or 1 month of full time work) and should be completed before 31 July 2018 deadline.

    Swim Drink Fish Canada is a growing charity working for a swimmable, drinkable, fishable future. Our programs bring together law, science, culture, and digital media in order to connect and empower people to restore polluted places, protect human health, and promote thriving natural spaces.

    In 2011, we launched Swim Guide (www.theswimguide.org). Swim Guide is a smartphone app that shows you your closest beaches and tells you whether or not the water is clean enough to swim. Swim Guide has been expanding rapidly to include beaches all over Canada and the United States, as well as Baja, the Bahamas, New Zealand and Australia. We count over 2 million individual users.
