Kingston Swimmable Water Restoration Program

Started in 2017, the Swimmable Water Restoration Project is a chapter of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper that runs in Kingston, Ontario. The project monitors water quality at two popular swimming spots in Kingston – Breakwater Park and the Wolfe Island Boat Club. Water quality is monitored by Lake Ontario Waterkeeper staff during the summer, and community volunteers during the spring and fall. Monitoring of water quality at Breakwater Park is of particular importance, as it is a very popular swimming spot in Kingston, but is located near a sewage overflow point.

As part of the program water quality monitoring results for Kingston and Frontenac beaches are updated in Swim Guide on a weekly basis.
