Klines Run Park is sampled Weekly from June 23rd to September 4th
For the summer, The Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association has initiated a sampling program through the Water Watchdogs Program in collaboration with Swim Drink Fish Canada. This program was created to help inform the public about the water quality of locations that are used for recreation and access to the Lower Susquehanna River. The water will be tested for E.coli on a weekly basis and during weather events between June 23rd and September 4th of 2023. Samples will be taken from Blue Rock Boat Launch, Columbia River Park, Walnut Street Boat Launch, Klines Run Park, and Lock 2 Recreation Area. Samples will be processed utilizing the IDEXX Colilert-18 method and test results are expressed as Most Probable Number (MPN) of E.coli per 100 ml by using the IDEXX Quanti-Tray/2000 MPN Table. When a swim site is given a “Green” status, the monitored area is determined to have a E.coli level that is below the maximum value of 410 MPN/100mL. When a swim site is given a “Red” status, the monitored area is determined to have an E.coli level that is above the maximum value of 410 MPN/100mL. The maximum value of 410 MPN/100mL is based on the E.coli standard for safe recreational use provided by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Clean Water.
