Perissa

The Perissa beach, which is part of Thira's municipality, is located in an urban region and it is a tourist resort.

The length of the beach is 1,5 (one and a half) kilometers, whereas its width is 30(thirty) meters.

The beach is with sand and some parts with pebbles type of trees:sea trees and a few lilies of the sand.

Around the beach, there are sport facilities and also car, bikes and bicycles are hired. Furthermore, there are hotels and rooms to rent. The ways to get to the beach are through the eleven (11) main streets which are vertical to the beach, by car, buses, hired motorbikes or on foot.

Future environmental actions for the year 2005:1) Cleaning up of the island beaches. 2) Trees planting. 3) Lifeguard lessons on the Perissa&rsquo s beach.4) Visit to biological stations of the region.5) Radio messages and television programs.6) Distribution of a guide with the different types of Greek fish on Perissa beach.
