Perigiali, a sandy beach, organized by the Municipality of Kavala, and with free entrance, is situated within an urban area on the eastern edge of the city. With a length of about 1km and a width of max. 12m it is well combined with the pine trees, palm trees and bushes that grow all along it. In about the centre of the beach there is a café , whilst on the eastern side there are several taverns for all tastes. There are two entrances to the beach on either side of the café , and the beach is easily accessible by everybody (handicapped and elderly persons, too). One can get to the beach on foot, by car or take the no. 2 city bus, the distance to the city centre being only 3 km. All through the year the Municipality of Kavala, alone or in cooperation with other institutions or societies, realizes a number of environmental education activities (reforestations, cleaning up beaches, guided visits at the biological sewage treatment plant, events for the plants and trees, but the swallows, as well etc.).
