Geoponika Mykoniatika

The &ldquo GEOPONICA &ndash MYKONIATIKA BEACH&rdquo is situated between Nea Kallikratia&rsquo s town and the other candidate &ldquo Blue Flag&rdquo beach, called &ldquo Veria&rdquo . From the 17,00 Km length of the Kallikratia&rsquo s Municipality beaches this is the largest one, with 1 000 meters length and 30 m width. The beach has a rural or/and rather &ldquo resort&rdquo character because of the summer residences being there. Besides, many young people are frequenting it at summer time.Near the beach and its surrounding area there are no sports&rsquo or other facilities such as Rent bikes or bicycles. There is only one Rent a car (Thessaloniki&rsquo s branch) in the center of Nea Kallikratia town. From East to West end along the beach there are some hotels and Rent rooms, as well as restaurants, coffee shops and bars. There is also a cinema called &ldquo Village Cool&rdquo , a brunch of the so called Thessaloniki&rsquo s Enterprise.The natural environment of the beach described above is a picturesque landscape with little privet pinewoods. Generally the natural environment of this district is similar to the neighbouring beaches of Chalkidhiki&rsquo Prefecture. The environmental education facilities carried out by the Municipality Services and other local as well as regional Institutions are: Conferences, Lectures, Clean up, Educational programs of the elementary and high school, programs of the Municipality&rsquo s Youth Council and its Volunteers&rsquo Corps etc, in collaboration with Chalkidhiki&rsquo s Prefecture. The Volunteers&rsquo Corps activities are under the National and Regional Regulations about the protection from natural disasters..How to get to the beach: The visitors who wish to get to the &ldquo Geoponika-Mykoniatika Beach&rdquo may take the public bus of Chalkidhiki Interurban Lines for Nea Kallikratia either from Thessaloniki (KTEL phone: +30.2310.316575) or from Nea Moudhania (KTEL phone: +30.23730.21228). In approximately 25 or 35 minutes of time they arrive at Nea Kallikratia then, at this point, they may continue by the same bus, going to N. Moudhania and get off at an intermediate local bus stop called &ldquo POPAY&rdquo , 3-5 minutes later. Afterwards, they continue on foot for about 800 m towards the shore.For those who come by car they have to take the National Road (N. R.) from Thessaloniki to N. Moudhania and turn to the right at the Exit &ldquo N. Kallikratia- Petralona Cave&rdquo (at the 40th Km). Arriving at the 1st cross road they follow the signs for Geoponika or Mykoniatika, for about 2 km. and reach the beach.
