Alykes beach is situated 9 km southeast from the centre of Volos city and is one of the longest sandy beaches of the area.
Alykes is one of the 15 beaches awarded the Blue Flag in Pagasitikos Bay catering for a number of strict criteria of the program such as cleanliness, organization, swimming water quality, safety, lifeguard facilities, first aid, etc.
Alykes beach extents along the settlement of Alykes and is part of an open bay 1.8 km long.
Alykes beach offers sun umbrellas and deckchairs free of charge, it has a beautiful seafront pavement, free parking lots, parks, playgrounds and cafes, tavernas, tsipouradika, rooms to let and hotels.
Alykes beach is freely accessible to all through a pavement parallel to the beach, it has a free of charge parking, ramps to showers, ramps for people with disabilities. The beach is accessible to people with disabilities and provides a free of charge parking area for them.
From Alykes beach there is a road connection to the city of Volos and you can travel by car or use public transport. In summer time there are regular buses (Νο 6) to Alykes beach from 7 am to12 o’clock midnight.
Moreover Alykes beach is accessible by bike following a 6km bike path starting from the port of Volos.
As Alykes resort is part of the city of Volos, many locals have their residences near the beach, with schools, churches, super markets, shops and lots of other services.
Alykes beach is one of the nearest resorts to the city of Volos and is always a favorite destination for swimming for locals and tourists. It has an outstanding tourism infrastructure and a wide sandy beach. In summertime local bars, cafes, restaurants and fish taverns are always busy. From the beach visitors can enjoy the marvelous view of Pelion mountain and the city of Volos.
Travelers can combine summer vacations and visits to the archaeological sites close to Alykes beach: the ruins of the ancient cities of Pagasai which gave the name to Pagasitikos Bay and Ancient Dimitriada.
Close to Alykes beach there is the Soros resort with the church of Saint Stefan. At Agios Stefanos beach there is a diving area for those who love diving.
Close to Alykes there is the airport of Nea Anchialos.
