Paredes de Vitória is sampled Other from June 14th to September 14th
Paredes de Vitória is located at the mouth of the valley of the river of Paredes (geographic coordinates), parish of Pataias, county of Alcobaça. The short distances to major towns in the region (Pataias 7km, Nazaré 13km, Marinha Grande 16km, Alcobaça 24km, Batalha 24km, Leiria 25km and Porto de Mós 25km) make this beach a prime destination for summer.
The prevailing climate is clear because of the Mediterranean and Atlantic influences. The Mediterranean influence is felt mainly during the summer, it is associated with high temperatures and sunshine and there is an almost total absence of precipitation. The beach of Paredes is oriented North-South and Northeast-Southeast, its’ length is approximately 2500 meters, its’ width varies greatly acording to the tides and also throughout the year. Its’ white sand comes from the wind and large movements of the sea, which proceeds at a constant sedimentation between the months from May to September and intense erosion wear in months from November to April. It is bisected by the stream that meanders along the shore pushed by the wind but always finding the path to the sea. During the summer, the sea is rough with the north winds. The parallelism of the waves against the shoreline provide excellent spots for surfing and bodyboard. In the valley and surrouinding pine forest remains fauna which is very typical os this region. On the cliffs it was detected traces of an ancient beach located 60m above the present level of the sea.
