Located in the municipality of Aljezur, Algarve lies in an area of high ecological importance, and rare natural beauty by integrating in the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina and Natura 2000 PTCON0012 "West Coast" and Important Bird Area (IBA) "West Coast" EN031. The beach extends for a sandy beach with more than half a kilometer long, forming a bay less hit by breaking of the waves, usually in the area.
In the south top, brand presence a vertical rock in the sea, a statue natural, called "stone of the needle". At the top of the abrupt cliffs that surround the beach enjoys one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Costa Vicentina and priority habitats, as Cistus palhinhae formations on maritime heath, species of flora with status of threat vulnerable and Iberian endemism. One of the most common species in this coast of sea cliffs is the white stork (Ciconia ciconia).
