The City of Copenhagen monitors water quality at the 11 bathing areas in Copenhagen from January 1st to December 31st. Bathing waters are monitored for indicator bacteria (E.coli and Intestinal Enterococci) according to the New Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC). Water quality is tested and monitored in two forms: Physical water quality samples and a technical alert system called the Bathing Water Forecast (BWF) System. The limit values for good bathing water quality are 500 E. coli per 100ml of water and 200 Enterococci per 100ml. Claire Lawson updates the status of each bathing area as soon as test results become available.
