About Old Woman Creek West
Old Woman Creek is one of Ohio’s few remaining examples of a natural estuary. It is the only Great Lakes freshwater estuary in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System -- the system is a network of living laboratories that help us understand and address the important issues faced by America's coastal communities. The area is an Ohio State Nature Preserve. The Mike DeWine Center for Coastal Wetland Studies overlooking the estuary's eastern shore serves as a focal point for public visitation and education programs. This beach is divided into east and west sections.
This beach is sampled 4 times per week during the monitoring season.
