São Pedro de Moel is sampled Other from June 14th to September 14th
São Pedro de Moel is one of the most emblematic beaches on the central Portuguese coast, located on the border between the Leiria Nacional Forest and the Atlantic Ocean. The village and the beach offer a fusion of sea, pine forest, history, architecture, and poetry, wrapped in an atmosphere of tranquility. These characteristics, together with its privileged geographic location, give São Pedro de Moel a stamp of natural beauty and make it one of the most beautiful and attractive places in mainland Portugal.
Classified as a beach of typology I, São Pedro de Moel belongs to the coastline of the municipality of Marinha Grande, and is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with a marked Atlantic influence, which gives a greater diversity of natural habitats and biodiversity. From a geological point of view, the village is surrounded by outcrops of rocks, aged between 65 and 199 Ma (from the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods). The cliffs that surround the beach of São Pedro de Moel, are inserted in an extensive coastal plain covered by dunes that extend to the Boa Viagem Mountain, and are considered by the academy as an national geosite due to its geological and paleontological natural wealth.
