The official bathing beach season is from Memorial Day through Labor Day. During this time, the Calvert County Health Department conducts routine sampling and posting of public bathing beaches on a predetermined monitoring schedule. A beach is marked Green when results show enterococci levels below 36 colonies / 100 ml of water. A beach is marked Red when results show enterococci levels higher than 36 colonies / 100 ml of water. A beach is marked Grey when the results were collected over 1 week ago Maryland Healthy Beaches notification system has partnered with Google Earth to send updates. However, Swim Guide prefers to contact the Health Department directly as we are unable to determine the monitoring schedule Google Earth uses.
