"José Gonçalves Beach is surrounded by 2 protected areas: Costa do Sol State Park, which are fully protected, and Pau Brail APA, which allows sustainable uses. It is home to one of the most preserved and sensitive ecosystems, not only in Búzios but in the entire Lagos region, which is the Serra das Emerências mountain range.
This is a place of immeasurable environmental importance for the entire Costa do Sol, which encompasses municipalities from Maricá to Macaé. The Blue Flag award in a place of such environmental specificity is perfectly appropriate given all the natural wealth that exists there and the symbolism for the city and the community living in the neighborhood."
