About Juneway Terrace Park
Juneway Terrace Park and Beach is the northernmost beach in Chicago. It is located in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The beach and area were named by the Norwegian real estate developer, Sivert Tobias Gunderson, and acquired by the Chicago Parks District in 1959. The only parking available is street parking and there are no public washrooms on the beach.
The Chicago Park District manages and grooms beaches, including Juneway Terrace Park Beach, on a daily basis. Beaches are open 6am to 11pm daily, but swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are on duty from 11am to 7pm each day.
While Juneway Beach is currently not monitored for water quality, the Chicago Park District Department of Cultural and Natural Resources does report water quality sample results from the nearby beach, Rogers Beach, which is within 100-200 yards along the same shoreline. On the Chicago Park District website, the status, swim advisories and swim bans for Juneway Beach are posted online based on Rogers Beach sample results. You can find these and other details on their webpage, at https://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/parks-facilities/beaches.
