South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) updates Swim Guide with water quality monitoring information covering testing locations throughout the Yuba River watershed. Water samples are collected and processed for E. Coli. River Monitor Site Stewards collect samples on the second Saturday of the month from June through August. E. Coli Contamination A beach is posted if it exceeds the following water quality standards put forward by the state: A value at =/> 320 MPN / 100 mL Once bacteria results are available (approximately 24 hours after sample collection), results are immediately posted on the Swim Guide app and website. They are also published on www.RiverDB.org. If a beach fails, SYRCL completes follow-up sampling(s). If 5 samples are above the limit in one month, they inform the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), who carries out remediation. Health advisories are rescinded when the above standards are met. Monitoring Status A beach is marked Green when a single sample result is under 320 MPN/100 mL.
