The PLAKA DILESIOU beach is situated on the northeast edge of the municipality of Shimatari , in the South Euboean Gulf.The coast is sandy, it is situated in a residential area and it is a holiday resort.There are rooms to let and motorbikes to hire in the wider area of the coast.The length of the coast is 800 metres and the width 10 to 20 metres.
Along the seaside there has been made a remoulding with the creation of pedestrian zones, tilings, construction of flower-stands and flower beds, stone benches, placing of lightings, creation of open parking lots, playgrounds, town refreshment bar etc.
All over the area around the beach there is a lot of green consisted mainly of pine trees. Also all along the seaside there are a lot of trees (pine trees, etc.) bushes and various species of flowers.
A lot of activities take place at the beach, such as :· Meetings on various issues, mainly on the environment and the sea.· Cleaning of the beach with the participation of the citizens.· Planting of trees and flowers with the participation of the citizens.· Athletic games and sports (cycling, cross-country races, beach volleyball etc.).· Cultural events (music, theatre, dance etc.).· Competitions and exhibitions of photographs.· Competitions and exhibitions of paintings.· Activities on the beach with the participation of children and students.
The PLAKA DILESIOU beach is found within 60 km north of Athens.
To visit the beach one should drive along the highway Athens-Lamia and turn east at Shimatari in the direction of Dilesi. Within 8 km and with the aid of the guiding sign-posts one can very easily arrive at the beach.
