Monte Velho - Porto das Carretas

Also known as 'Porto das Carretas beach', it is located between the beaches of Costa de Santo André and Fonte do Cortiço. This beach with coarse sand and rough seas is located on an immense coastline that, between Tróia and Cabo de Sines, takes the form of an uninterrupted stretch of sand. The beach has white sand and its waters are clear and you can see seabirds and, very rarely, dolphins. Its surroundings are of great scenic beauty, with dune structures covered in pine forest and small lagoons, which testify to the presence of the Santo André lagoon system. It is also part of the protected area of ​​Lagoas de Santo André and Sancha and its natural characteristics are similar to Fonte do Cortiço beach. It is located just 4 km from the urban center of Vila Nova de Santo André.
