Guincho Sul is sampled Other from June 15th to September 30th
Praia Grande do Guincho is located between two rocky points, the high point and the point of the abano, it has a large extension of sand, both in length and in width. With clear and crystalline water, Praia Grande do Guincho is considered one of the largest beaches in the country, with a high influx of vacationers, being part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It is also sought after by practitioners of Surf, Windsurf and Kitesurf, where world championships of these same modalities are held. The Sintra mountain range and the dunes provide an internationally recognized landscape. Due to the action of the wind, the beach faces to the south the “Guincho-Cresmina” dune system, of great geological dynamism. Different types of dunes can be seen on this beach: embryonic mobile dunes, which represent the first stages of dune vegetation; the white dunes, which constitute the sandy ridges closest to the sea; and also the gray dunes, which are fixed, stabilized and colonized by more or less dense perennial grasses and abundant mats of lichens and mosses. On this beach it is possible to observe a volcanic chimney, constituted by an important outcrop of basaltic rock, exposed during low tide.During the bathing season it is a guarded and signposted beach, with a Medical/First Aid Station.
