Monte Gordo

The beach of Monte Gordo is located between Praia Verde (municipality of Castro Marim) and the beach of Santo António in Vila Real de Santo António, is situated south of two areas of environmental protection, the Natural Reserve of Sapal de Castro Marim/VRSA and the National Forest of coastal dunes of VRSA.

The bay of Monte Gordo, has the largest expanse of beach (beach of fine golden sand), and with the warmer temperature in the south of Europe, the fruit of its privileged location, near the mouth of the Guadiana River, facing the Atlantic Ocean and enjoying the warm currents of the Mediterranean. Old fishermen village, Monte Gordo was a pioneer of tourism in the Algarve, with the construction of one of the first hotels in the region

Today is an international tourist center, with a casino, frequented by both domestic and foreign, a large marginal sealed the car traffic, which allows quiet walks in front of the sea.
