Culatra-Mar is sampled Other from June 1st to September 30th
Praia da Culatra ("Culatra-Mar") is located on the island with the same name (municipality of Faro). The Culatra still retains its fishing village roots and has a population of approximately 750 inhabitants.
Access to the Culatra is made only by boat. There are links from Olhão, throughout the year and from Faro, from Cais da Porta Nova (Portas do Mar).
The Culatra is an island of people dedicated to the sea. When we landed in the Culatra we find ourselves in a place of fishermen. The village is endowed with various infrastructure and services.
Access to the Praia da Culatra is made through a newly built wooden walkway under the rules of the National Park of Ria Formosa. The sandy is wide and extends out of sight, both as to the west to east. This beach is devoid of any infrastructure. During the bathing season the Faro Municipal Council provides lifeguard service and provides access to a bathroom.
Here you can observe the rich flora of the dune fields and numerous species of birds that live in these parts calm, where the waters are warm and calm.
After two hours walk east takes you to Barra Grande, where you can enjoy the inviting sandy pools and an ever changing landscape.
