Bertra is an exposed shore with a sandy substrate. Rocks and pebbles are deposited on the upper shore at times of spring tide. There are important sand dunes present which have been colonised by many different plant species. The beach is life guarded during the bathing season (lifeguard times are posted on the information noticeboard at the beach). The beach is located 12km west of Westport off the R335. Follow the sign for Trá (beach).
