Kappad Main Beach was first awarded Blue Flag status in October of 2020 and is a Blue Flag beach for the 2023 season.*
Kappad Main Beach is a picturesque sandy beach famously known as the place where Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama first landed in India in 1498. The entry fee is 25 rupees which gives visitors access to the facilities that include restrooms, beach chairs and umbrellas, showers, and lifeguards. There are several food stalls along the beach as well as a promenade that is ideal for a relaxing stroll.
*A Blue Flag beach is one that meets strict water quality and safety criteria. These beaches are certified annually as being clean, accessible, eco-friendly, and having great water quality!
