The sandy beach Lianos Kavos is situated in a rural area in front of the Hotel Creta Panorama with rocky moles that form small coves. The beach is 350m long and 15m wide.The protection of the environment is promoted by the Hotel in various ways, as e.g. by guest and visitor information (schools etc.), paper recycling and battery collection inside the hotel. Other activities include the cleaning of areas near the hotel. e.g. the Geropotamos river estuary, the submarine area in front of the hotel, events on the occasion of the World Tourism Day with reference to the environment and the necessity of its protection. Within the framework of environmental protection, the local Society 'Friends of Animals' is also represented at the Hotel.A water sports station is operated on the beach next to the hotel, while cars, motorbikes and bikes can be rented nearby.The area 'Lianos Kavos' and the Geropotamos Wetlands next to the same, belong to the European Network 'Natura 2000' . There endemic species find refuge, such as buzzards, falcons, terrapins, frogs, badgers and martens. The beaches of Rethymnon belong to the most important nesting beaches of the sea turtle 'Caretta-Caretta'. In the marine area the Mediterranean Monk Seal has been observed, which is also an endangered species. The wetland area next to the Hotel and the beach shows rich vegetation, among others plane trees, reed, oleander, myrtle and various water plants.The beach 'Lianos Kavos' can be accessed through the Hotel Creta Panorama, located next to the Geropotamos Bridge, 18km east of Rethymnon town.Link to the Hotel and the beach:
