Olhos d'Água do Alviela est échantillonné Other de June 28th à August 31st.
On the edge of the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park, the Springs of the Alviela River offer a unique natural spectacle, which human hands have managed to preserve and enhance. The natural phenomena that take place there, along with the geomorphological characteristics that mark this place, make it a pleasant summer and visiting place for everyone who travels to our municipality. With a landscape of great scenic beauty, after an underground route of several tens of kilometers, the Alviela River begins, at the site of Olhos de Água (Union of Parishes of Malhou, Louriceira and Espinheiro). It is the most important karst spring in the country, reaching flows of around 30 cubic meters per second. The high flow rates, the quality of the water and its proximity to the city of Lisbon earned it the task of being the main source of water supply for the capital from 1880 until very close to the present day.
