Homem do Leme est échantillonné Other de June 14th à September 14th.
The to-and-fro movement of translucent waters, sometimes blue sometimes intense emerald green, reveals rocky outcrops with more than 570 million years. From the belvedere overlooking the beach of Homem do Leme there is a privileged view of the golden sands and the horizon where sky and sea meet, watching the parade of beautiful ocean liners and stately cargo ships as they make their way towards the Port of Leixões. A reference point is the bronze statue that gives name to this bathing area. The statue of the Homem do Leme (Steersman), authored by Américo Gomes (1934), pays tribute to fishermen.
Besides the unusual landscape, this bathing area offers the better conditions to the most demanding holidaymakers, including excellent access and support equipment, good road access, public transport, car park and bike park and it is very popular with families due to the existence of two playgrounds. This is also the only beach of Porto accessible to people with reduced mobility because of access to the bathing area by ramp, tiralô, adapted toilets and accessible first-aid post.
