Forte Novo beach is located near by the city of Quarteira and surrounded by a very sensitive natural area of sand dunes. At the East, the intense ochre of the cliffs contrasts with the green of pine trees and the golden sands. When the tide is out you can see traces of the Forte Novo, built in the reign of King John II and restored in the late eighteenth century. The beach has lifeguards, a concession area for shades and benefits from the proximity and the facilities provided by the beach of Quarteira.
