Barril’s beach falls in the area of Natural Park of Ria Formosa and it is characterized by its fine and withe sands. Situated roughly halfway through Tavira’s Island. To get there walk across a narrow footbridge that rises on one channel of the estuary and then continue on foot or on the tourist train which runs on rails, for about 1 km to the beach. In the Barril, there are several bars and restaurants that offer a pleasant stay for the visitors. Near the point of departure of the train that connects with beach there is a holiday village of Pedras d'El Rei. About 2 km there is a town linked to fishing and harvesting of octopus, Santa Luzia.
