About Totuava
Totuava Beach is well-hidden and it may be cumbersome to find . Totuava is located North of 1000 Steps Beach, which is directly connected to Totuava Beach. The beach access for 1000 Step must be used for Totuava Beach has no public access of its own. The beach access point is directly across 9th Street coming off Pacific Coast Highway. As with 1000 Steps Beach, parking can be found in the residential areas. It is recommended to cross at the crosswalk as it can be dangerous to attempt crossing elsewhere along the Highway. Once off the beach access point, the right side is Totuava Beach while the left side is considered 1000 Steps Beach. Lifeguards are on watch and public restrooms are present.
Reminders: There is a 3-day rain advisory after each rain storm, use caution as bacteria levels can increase during this period. The County Environmental Health staff advises swimmers that levels of bacteria can rise significantly in ocean and bay waters adjacent to storm drains, creeks and rivers. Swimmers should avoid coastal waters impacted by discharging storm drains creeks and rivers, and beach users should avoid contact with any runoff on the beach during dry or wet weather conditions. As an extra precaution remain 500 ft away on either side from any outfalls.
