Newport Beach - Orange Street

Newport Beach is 2.7 mile long sandy beach, stretching from the Santa Ana River to the Balboa Peninsula. The area around the Newport Pier offers visitors a total beach going experience. The pier located between 19th and 23rd streets is a center for morning surfing and fishing; fish sinks are located on the pier as well as a restaurant at the very end. The base of the pier is an area popular for shopping, dining and bar hopping. Other activities include beach volleyball and a paved bike/walking path that separates the beach houses from the sand. Wheelchairs are available at the lifeguard station. Outdoor showers and wheelchair accessible restrooms are located at the base of the pier. Parking is metered along the streets and in parking lots, and free in the evenings. There is free parallel parking on the streets between homes, but difficult to find on the weekends and busy summer days. There are popular surf spots north of the pier and at small jetties between 18th and 56th streets. This site is located on the waterfront at the intersection of Orange Street and PCH, about 1500 feet south of the Santa Ana River.
