Praia do Forno

Praia do Forno is located in the municipality of Armação dos Búzios, about 1,200 meters from the city center, in a place of privileged scenic beauty. Due to its privileged location, in terms of proximity to the most expressive urban center of the city, it is a strategic beach for the municipality, in terms of ecological tourism, due to its ease of access, feasibility of parking, its general contact of extreme environmental preservation and the physical availability of becoming the first beach fully accessible to People with Special Needs, as well as the elderly and people with chronic health problems.
Confirming the panorama of being a place of differentiated environmental expression, it can be mentioned that Forno beach is part of 3 Municipal Conservation Units, which are: Lagoinha Municipal Natural Park, Artisanal Fisheries APA and Marine APA, emphasizing that the Municipal Park is an Integral Preservation Unit. Additionally, Forno beach is an integral part of the Costa do Sol State Park, also an Integral Preservation Unit, extremely significant in the context of public environmental policies in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
In addition, it is recorded that Praia do Forno is listed by the State Institute of Cultural Heritage, due to the relevance of its scenic composition, which corroborates the prominence of its natural composition, strongly attributed to the vegetation formation, and attributes to the municipality the responsibility of maintain its preservation.
Typically a beach with clear/crystalline waters, Praia do Forno has different attractions for touristic diving by apnea and with the use of a scuba. As it has calm waters throughout the year, the beach can be used for tourism during the entirety of the months.
It is noteworthy that Forno beach has sand with a characteristic pink color, due to the disintegration of rocky material popularly known as garnet, present on this beach. This factor provides an aesthetic addition that is very attractive and surprising to many people who visit the place for the first time.
The Municipal Executive Branch currently coordinates a set of activities to make Praia do Forno a beach management model in the municipality, which will be gradually and sequentially expanded to other locations of extreme environmental relevance in the city. A great guide in this process are the policies established by the Ambientes em Rede Institute, through the Blue Flag Program, for which the municipality proposed the candidacy of Praia do Forno in the year 2022.
