Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper monitors water quality at 15 stations across Lake Pend Oreille and the Pend Oreille River, from Bayview to Priest River. Samples are collected on the 3rd Tuesday of the month (weather permitting). E. Coli reults will be posted on Swim Guide weekly, reflecting the most current month's data. In addition, all stations are monitored for the following: water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, transparency, total nitrogen, nitrate+nitrite, total phosphorous, orthophosphate, total organic carbon, and total coliforms. Chlorophyll a measurements are conducted at select locations during the months of August and September. To review the complete set of monitoring results, please visit www.lpow.org. Swim Guide has assigned this station with a Special Status of Gray meaning the information in not collected weekly. The data that is collected will be used to determine the overall health of these waters. If the test results show concentrations higher than 406 E. Coli per 100ml Swim Guide will enter the beach as posted.
