Access to the municipality from Mungia is via the BI-3101 local road, and from Lemoiz taking the BI-2153 (Lemoiz-Armintza) and BI-3152 (Armintza-Bakio) foral roads, registering a gradual increase in traffic of vehicles for them. Access to the municipality from Bermeo is via the new road parallel to the BI-3101 road, open since June 2012. The usual means of collective transport for trips to and from Bakio is the Bizkaibus bus line. Due to the great interest that San Juan de Gaztelugatxe has aroused, the bus lines have been extended at times of greatest influx, such as the summer season and long weekends and other holidays that take place throughout the year.
