Biinaagami is a multimedia, change-provoking initiative rooted in Indigenous knowledges. Through ceremony, mapping, inclusive storytelling, augmented reality, experiential learning, community water hubs and ecosystem restoration, Biinaagami aims to rebuild just and healthy relations between wildlife, people and place in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence watershed.

About Pickerel Creek
Pickerel Creek Beach is located within the Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area. An observation tower is open year-round for viewing the wetland wildlife here. White-tailed deer are frequently observed in the Wildlife Area. In addition, this area offers the best birding in Ohio.
This beach is sampled 4 times per week during the monitoring season.
Ohio County Health Departments sample most beaches from Memorial Day weekend to Labour Day weekend. Beaches on Lake Erie are sampled on a daily - weekly schedule depending on the beach. Swim Guide checks the Ohio BeachGuard System daily for E. coli postings and the Ohio EPA Harmful Algae Bloom advisory website for postings. http://epa.ohio.gov/habalgae.aspx

A beach is marked Red when a single sample shows enterococci counts above 200 units/ 100 ml or when Harmful Algae Blooms are confirmed at the beach.
