Rogue Riverkeeper

Rogue Riverkeeper is an advocacy organization that works to protect and restore clean water, native fish, and healthy communities in the Rogue River Basin across southern Oregon. We work to safeguard the health of the Rogue River using fundamental environmental protections like the Clean Water Act to improve water quality across the 3.3 million acres of the watershed. We are a member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, which is an international network of advocates who fight for clean water in over 300 waterways worldwide.

Our vision is of a clean, free flowing, healthy river where the Rogue’s scenic beauty, recreational, fish, and wildlife values are protected and restored for current and future generations. Our mission is to protect and restore clean water, native fish and healthy communities in the Rogue River Basin through advocacy, accountability, and community engagement. We work to build broad-based community support that fosters and nurtures community responsibility for good stewardship of the Rogue River. We fill a critical niche in the Rogue Basin as the watchdog, steward, and voice of the River and watershed.

An important part of our work is providing our Water Quality Monitoring Program every summer. In working with a great group of staff members, volunteers, and other partner organizations, we collect and test water samples from a variety of waterways across the Rogue basin. This information is published here, on the Swim Guide, for ease of access for our community members to make informed decisions about their summer recreation opportunities so we can all swim, drink, and fish safely.
