Located near a large stream mouth next to Molii Pond, Hakipuu Boat Ramp is a common entry point for boats and swimmers alike. This site is monitored every two weeks.
There is little beach access, though it is close to Kualoa Regional Park which has facilities, grassy park areas, and a large sandy beach. You can also see Mokolii island from the beach, which looks like a chinaman's hat.
The waves are smaller here, and it is protected from most currents and swells.
Samples are collected once every two weeks.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
