Mr. Trash Wheel is sampled Daily from April 1st to September 30th
Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore collects microbial water quality samples from five sites in the Baltimore Inner Harbor region. Samples are tested for the presence of Enterococci bacteria which are microbial indicators of fecal contamination. Enterococci bacteria are commonly found in the human digestive tract and there is a well-documented relationship between Enterococci densities and gastrointestinal illnesses. SAMPLES ARE COLLECTED EACH WEEKDAY FROM APRIL TO OCTOBER AND ANALYZED BY ZOOQUATIC LAB WITHIN 48 HOURS. A site is marked green if the analysis reveals less than 130 MPN (most probable number) of Enterococci colonies per 100 mL of water. A site is marked red if the analysis reveals there are more than 130 MPN Enterococci colonies per 100 mL of water. A site is marked grey when there is not enough or no data available to give an accurate grade.
