About Praia da Reserva - Trecho PNM
Praia da Reserva is part of the Protected Area called Municipal Natural Park Nelson Mandela, which is located in the west of the city of Rio de Janeiro, on the border between the neighborhoods Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and Marapendi Lagoon. It has a wide strip of sandbank with exuberant scenic beauty, containing fauna species endemic to the state of Rio de Janeiro, such as the beach butterfly (Parides ascanius) and the beach gecko (Liolaemus lutzae), in addition to flora species endangered species, such as Clusia fluminensis and bromeliad Neoregelia cruenta. Access is preferentially by cars and taxis.
