Balboa Beach & Pier

Newport Beach, California

If you are looking for something extra, this fun historic district boasts shops, restaurants, and a terminal for Catalina Island at the Balboa Pavilion. The Pavilion has a gift shop, restaurant, and banquet room. There is the Balboa Fun Zone with a ferris wheel, rides, and candy shops. Also, enjoy the Pier Plaza and Peninsula Park, which has a bandstand, baseball diamonds, soccer field, playground, picnic tables, and grills. A boardwalk runs along the bay to the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. All the way at the end of the peninsula is West Jetty Park, which overlooks the Wedge, a popular but dangerous surfing spot.

Beach access is available at the end of most streets as the Balboa area at the end of the Newport Beach Peninsula. The pier area has lots of parking for you and your family.

COVID-19

Keep your distance from other people.

Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
