Water quality at all beaches, unless otherwise noted, are currently monitored once per week by the Public Health Department, County of Santa Barbara. County results are uploaded weekly to Swim Guide by Santa Barbara Channelkeeper. *Santa Barbara County Environmental Health Services advises no swimming for 72 hours following a significant rainfall event. Public Health Standards: In California, maximum levels for bacteria are established for recreational waters. Single sample maximum levels are 235 E. coli/100 ml; 61 Enterococcus /100 ml; and 400 fecal coliform/100 ml; and 10,000 total coliform /100 ml. In waters designated for contact recreation, the median fecal coliform concentration based on a minimum of not less than five samples for any 30-day period shall not exceed 50/100 ml, nor shall more than ten percent of total samples during any 30-day period exceed 400/100 ml. Monitoring frequency varies across jurisdictions.
