Renamed in 2011 in honor of a prominent area attorney and active community volunteer, the Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park’s 40-acres stretch from the Halifax River to the Atlantic Ocean. The county maintained park operates from sunrise to sunset and has no admission fee. The park hosts a baseball field, basketball court, soccer field, 4-acre dog park, nature trails and boardwalks, wildlife viewing opportunities and a fishing dock on the Halifax River. Beachgoers may access the traffic free zone, with parking available on the east side across the street from the ocean. Additional onsite amenities include pavilion and picnic area, playground, restrooms, racquetball court, shuffleboard and tennis courts. This is a designated area for a lifeguard station.
