An undeveloped barrier island, Little Talbot Island consists of maritime forests, dunes, undisturbed salt marshes, and over five miles of white, sandy beaches. The park’s diverse habitats host a variety of wildlife, including river otters, marsh rabbits, bobcats, native and migratory birds. In addition to nature viewing, visitors enjoy hiking, kayaking, beachcombing, surfing, bicycling, picnicking, camping, and fishing. Pavilions are available for reservation and rental. The park is open 8 a.m. to sundown, year-round. Admission/use fee schedule applies. Pets must remain leashed and attended and are not allowed on the beach. Onsite amenities include interpretive exhibits, restrooms, bicycle paths, hiking/nature trails, full-facility campground, kayak rentals and guided paddle tours. This monitoring site reflects the results from the northern beachside picnic pavilion.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
