Blind Pass was created in 1926 by a hurricane's storm surge severing Captiva from the larger Sanibel Island. The east to west configurations allows the Gulf of Mexico's currents to abundantly deposit seashells along the islands' beaches. Turner Beach is located on Captiva and is county owned/city maintained. Onsite amenities include handicap parking, restrooms and water fountains. Blind Pass refers to the access point on the Sanibel-side of the waterway and is city owned and operated. Handicap parking is available, but other onsite amenities may be limited. Beaches operate 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., year-round. Parking fees apply. For beach wheelchairs, please contact the City of Sanibel’s Police Department at 239-472-3111.
