This county owned/city maintained beach consists of 50 acres and offers guests access to the Gulf of Mexico’s sand and surf. Bowman’s Beach has a less developed shoreline than other areas of Sanibel, causing many beachgoers to find the five minute trek from the parking lots to the beach a minute inconvenience and worthwhile. Beach operates 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., year-round. Onsite amenities include concessions, changing rooms, showers, drinking fountains, picnic areas with grills and ample parking with over 200 spaces. Parking fees apply. For more information about access/use, please contact 239-395-1860. For beach wheelchairs, please contact the City of Sanibel’s Police Department at 239-472-3111.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
