Bald Head Island is surrounded by 14 miles of beaches. South Beach is one of the most popular beaches of the island. At the far end of this beach lies Dune Ridge, offering an amazing panoramic view of the entire island. Today, the Village of Bald Head Island is fighting to restore and maintain the beautiful South Beach.
Access to the island is limited to passenger ferry and private boats. Cars have been banned on Bald Head Island and visitors & residents are encouraged to walk, bike and use electric golf carts.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
