This site is moderately to heavily used by people from the surrounding area. It was at one time used for baptisms by a nearby rural church and may still be used for that purpose. It is an access point for folks starting and ending canoe trips.

During droughts the Pea River can become very eutrophic and algal growths can become impressive raising some concern about toxic algae. No health problems have been reported at this site.
Testing will be done again a few days before Independence Day and a few days before Labor Day.

Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so.
